BIRGENAIR
This infamous Turkish charter carrier is better known for death of over 200 tourists than for having operated a DC-10. In fact, a single aircraft was leased for the 1994 holiday season to supplement their 737/757/767 fleet. #201 was leased from Finnair (via Skyjet) and although the titles and their Finnish cross logo were hidden by white tape, it could still be recognised as Finnair. Birgenair operated charter flights from Western Europe to several Turkish holiday destinations until 1996. Shortly after their infamous accident of their only 757 (which was operated for the Dominican carrier Alas Nacionales) near Puerto Plata, Birgenair ceased all operations. At that time, #201 was already flying for Air Liberté.
