AEROLYON
Established in 1996, Aerolyon has become an important holiday carrier in France. For their operations for tour operator "Nouvelles Forntières", a DC-10-30 was leased from Challengair in late 1996 awaiting delivery of an ex-AOM aircraft. This was leased in February of 1997 and was followed by a second one from the same source in late 1999. Many DC-10 left and joined the fleet during the years, coming mainly from AOM.
Aerolyon connected Lyon, Paris and a large number of smaller French airports (like Brest, Nantes and Bordeaux) with holiday destinations in the French Caribbean and other overseas territories with a pure DC-10-30 fleet. In August 2002, the airline ceased operations and will probably start again in 2003 under the ownership of a canadian investor.
