In 1984, Aloha Airlines made a large step in their history when a DC-10 #159 (N801AL) was leased for six months. This was not only the first widebody aircraft in Aloha’s fleet but it also inaugurated the mainland services of Aloha Airlines. #159 was sub-leased from Philippine Airlines which had leased the aircraft for ten years from KLM. This DC-10 was operated in a full colour scheme!
