LAN CHILE
(Chile)

When Lan Chile realized in the early 1980s, that the Boeing 707 was becoming old and too small for some routes, the Chilean flag carrier took the opportunity to lease a Pan Am DC-10 and later leased four DC-10-30s from Air New Zealand (2) and Laker Airways (2) for the high-density routes. DC-10s were used on the routes to Europe and on weekends also on the services to Miami and New York, but in 1984 the last aircraft left the fleet and the services were taken over by the smaller 767-200ER which fitted better into Lan Chile’s network. Now, Lan Chile operates Boeing 767-300ER aircraft together with 737-200 Advanced, A320 family and A340-300.
