LAKER AIRWAYS (1996 - 1999)
In 1996, Sir Freddie Laker came back to the stage of airline business, but this time, on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. First, charter operations with a fleet of 727-200s started under the name of „Laker Airways Bahamas“, then an airline for transatlantic operations was established in Florida. For these flights, Laker chose again the DC-10, like in the 1970s. Three aircraft were leased from Polaris and GECAS with a fourth added in 1997. They operated charter flights from Orlando and Fort Lauderdale to London / Gatwick until early 1999, when the airline was dissolved again. Probably, the last time Laker appeared.
