July 12th 1997 | 46577/ 114, a Northwest DC-10-30 which began its career with Swissair, became the first DC-10 to reach the 100 000 flight hour mark. Only a few months before, the first 747 reached this mark. This is just one of many evidences for the longevity of the DC-10. |
December 21st 1992 | Martinair's 46924/ 218 crashes on approach to Faro, Portugal in bad weather. |
April 14th 1993 | Caused by a hard landing, the nose gear of American Airlines' 46711/ 105 collapses. The aircraft is written off. |
November 26th 1995 | Again, a nose gear collapse finishes the life of a DC-10. 46978/ 258, one of VIASA's DC-10s, is written of after a hard landing in Buenos Aires.. |
June 13th 1996 | An engine fire on board of Garuda's 46685/ 284 is the cause of an aborted take off. The DC-10-30 burns out only a few meters after the runway. |
September 5th 1996 | Fire is also the cause of 47809/ 191's accident. This FedEx DC-10 made an emergeny landing in Newburgh, New York. The aircraft was destroyed by fire after landing. |
December 21st 1999 | AOM's 46890/ 77 overruns the runway at Guatemala/La Aurora. The DC-10-30 was operated for Cubana on this flight. |
