AEROMÉXICO
(México)

Aeroméxico became a DC-10 costumer on June 5th 1972 when the airline ordered two DC-10-30s for routes to North America and transatlantic routes where it replaced the DC-8 as flagship. The first one, named Ciudad de Mexico, was introduced on April 17th 1974. The second, Castillo de Chapultepec, joined the fleet two months later. In 1979, Aeroméxico became, together with Mexicana, launch costumer for the DC-10-15 which was mainly used on the routes from the base in Mexico City to larger cities in Mexico as well as on some to the United States. Two aircraft joined the fleet in the 1980s, bringing the fleet to six aircraft. Financial problems forced Aeroméxico to concentrate on smaller aircraft, so that now the 767 is the new flagship. Other operated aircraft include the DC-9, MD-80 and 757.
