Founded in 1993, Omni Air International commenced as Omni Air Express operating a Boeing 727 freighter aircraft for different charter carriers such as DHL, UPS or Emery. In 1997, Omni commenced also passenger services with an ex American Airlines DC-10-10. This aircraft was soon supplemented by a second DC-10-10 from the same source and later, in 1999, also the first DC-10-30s from Condor.In 2002, the DC-10-10s were phased out and replaced by further series 30 aircraft. Today, Omni Air International operates passenger charter flights for tour operators or wet-lease flights for other airlines as well as cargo charters or military/government charter. The all-time fleet consisted of 12 aircraft. This does not include three DC-10s (#18, #91, #160 and #186) which were only acquired as spare source for other DC-10s. The only other type in the fleet is the Boeing 757-200. 5 former Northwest Airlines DC-10 will join the fleet during the next few months. #299 will be phased out. #170 and #201 will be returned to their lessors with the arrival of the Northwest Airlines aircraft.
